DescriptionThe VP of AI is Weyerhaeuser’s highest-level AI expert responsible for collaborating with executive leadership to develop the company’s AI strategy roadmap and deliver innovative digital solutions that enable the company’s strategy, mission, and goals. As the visionary head of AI, you will drive the research, development and deployment of advanced AI models and emerging technology. This is your chance to shape strategy and propel AI capabilities to new horizons.This role reports to the CIO and will work closely with senior executive leaders in setting the roadmap, analyzing and defining projects, and executing them. You are a Technology thought leader and deep subject matter expert in the AI/ML domain who will be a strategic advisor for the executive leadership team. You will collaborate with business leaders to understand where emerging technology can help solve business problems, make decisions regarding AI tools and platforms, and define organization structure and skill needs.  As the AI visionary, you will represent the company in internal and external AI/ML forums and collaborate with partners and key stakeholders to develop cutting edge solutions to drive continuous operational improvements.Job Responsibilities:Leads and facilitates the development of a comprehensive AI strategy across the company that aligns with business objectives and product roadmaps to drive tangible business growth with a key focus on people, process and technology Collaborates with senior leaders and will be a go-to advisory person in the domain Facilitates and leads a cross functional AI Council(s) to determine and prioritize AI investments; participates in other emerging technology, innovation and information governance councilsDefines the principles to guide solution decisions for the enterprise and corresponding benefit KPIsLeads effective collaboration with business stakeholders and IT to identify and deliver effective technology and data solutions that align to the long-term technology roadmap and business goalsDevelops, champions, and executes standards, governance structure(s) and appropriate training programs to ensure AI systems are developed and used ethically and responsibly. This includes addressing issues such as bias in AI algorithms, fair representation of data, and transparency in AI decision-makingOversees the implementation of AI technologies and solutions within the organization on relevant business use cases; collaborating with key stakeholdersLeads the growth, culture and continuous evolvement of innovative AI technical capability across the enterprise Assesses enterprise level drivers to determine corresponding technology, people, and process change requirements Leads the analysis of technology, industry and emerging market trends to determine their potential impact and benefit within the enterprise, e.g., mills, forests, customer engagement, and revenue Advises and collaborates with external and internal partners in driving strategic projects Works closely with CIO, CISO, and Legal to implement measures to protect data from unauthorized access, breaches, and misuse and protect Intellectual PropertyCollaborates with information governance and data analytics team to ensure cohesive strategic direction, roadmaps, and projectsQualificationsMaster’s Degree required or Ph.D. preferred in STEM field, high proficiency in Artificial Intelligence, machine learning. 15+ years of progressive, relevant technology, engineering, and/or analytics experience required; manufacturing and supply change experience a plusMinimum 5 years prior experience at the Director/VP level working as the executive leader for highly complex business segments or corporate divisions10+ years of experience and a proven track record in strategizing, shaping, and driving business value using Artificial Intelligence 10+ years of previous experience in traditional ML and deep learning techniques, leveraging state-of the-art technologies such as computer vision, natural language processing (NLP), time-series analysis, graph neural networks, and other AI/ML subdomains to solve complex business problems.7+ years of previous experience in managing technical projects or solutions teams and delivering business value from complex AI/ML and analytics workloadsMinimum 7+ years experience creating long-term roadmaps and providing strategic and innovative thought leadership for multi-year planning, building team capabilities and business case discipline for aligning longer term investment strategies and objectives.Minimum 7+ years effectively influencing senior leaders on industry trends and emerging technologies in anticipation of new business processes and systems; challenge the status quo in support of the technology direction.5+ years of experience and excellent knowledge of digital tools and services, cloud environments, automation, operational AI, and deployment tools and environmentsSuperior oral and written communication skills including communicating strategy and long-term vision to both technical and non-technical audiences, providing clarity regarding the vision and expectations, and how the vision/strategy is aligned with and linked to the company vision/strategyExtensive expertise in a broad spectrum of data domains, encompassing data privacy, security measures, analytical methods, data management, and governance protocolsDemonstrated experience effectively partnering with the security and legal functions to ensure compliance standards and processes are met to include protections for Intellectual PropertyRecognized as a trusted partner by business and functions, highly skilled at building and maintaining strong relationships with senior leaders and champions collaboration across the enterpriseStrong executive presence and highly skilled in creating and delivering presentations and messages to all audiences including executive leadersExpert level knowledge of architecture principles, practices, and standards to ensure a well architected and secure environments Results-oriented style with a high degree of analytical ability and proven problem-solving skills Champion of change leadershipWhat We Offer:Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $201,531 - $308,310 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 35% of base pay. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use.
