As the principle software and hardware architect for the Unmanned Systems group within HII the candidate will be is responsible for understanding:

  • The best approach for system architect utilizing research and industry best practices
  • Applying this knowledge to create and implement the system architect.
  • System architecture will heavily leverage autonomy, artificial intelligence, data analysis and analytics
  • Create roadmaps to take the current unmanned maritime systems from current capability and configuration to the future system architecture.
  • Develop effective teams capable of creating the advanced capability.

What you will be doing...

Designs and develops system architectures, and defines key capabilities and performance requirements. Defines total systems design and technology maturity constraints in accordance with mission requirements. Develops system element architecture and design and interface definitions. Defines system implementation approach and operational concept. Develops models and architectural guidelines for current and future system development.

This individual will apply strong systems engineering skills, software engineering skills, and autonomy domain knowledge to solve the challenges in engineering unmanned system that effectively interact with US Navy platforms and other DoD assets. Working within a multi-disciplinary team, this individual will take these autonomy and artificial intelligent systems from concept to the field, making critical contributions to the architectural concept design of autonomy software systems for both existing and new, purpose-built vehicles. Candidate will perform engineering related to development of autonomous systems and integration of these systems into the US Navy while using a broad spectrum of tools and technologies to meet both internal analysis and external client requirements. The individual shall have experience in developing and implementing machine learning models. The individual shall be familiar with general workflow and standard software frameworks used for machine learning and deep learning.

Candidate will perform engineering related to integration of AI onto autonomous systems while using a broad spectrum of tools and technologies to meet both internal analysis and external client requirements. Expect a team environment with self-motivated, highly trained professionals.

What we are looking for...

  • 20+ years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 18+ years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 15+ years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 24 years relevant experience.
  • Proficient in developing software within autonomous and artificial intelligent software system architecture and design, such as ASTM F2541 and US Navy Unmanned Maritime Autonomy Architecture. Proficient in developing software with Python and/or MATLAB programming language, and related packages, frameworks and libraries. #LI-MH1 *EP *TE *MV
