JOB SUMMARY

The postdoctoral researcher will assist PI Oguz Akbilgic on artificial intelligence and statistics method developments as well as their applications in clinical decision-making problems. The major focus is the detection and prediction of cardiovascular disease, however, Akbilgic's Lab carries out informatics research in other domains too, such as neurodegenerative diseases, outcome research, and sickle cell disease. The candidate will be responsible for all steps of data analysis ranging from data extraction and curation, analysis to reporting. The reporting will include drafting documentations of analysis in the form of white paper, journal articles, and abstracts. Furthermore, the candidate will be expected to create code repositories/libraries with associated user's guides to enable reuse of the analysis by third parties.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD in mathematics, statistics, computer science, quantitative methods, biomedical informatics, or related fields.
  • MD candidates are welcome to apply acknowledging that this is a 100% data science position with no clinical duties/training and requires excellent computational skills.
  • Fluent writing and communication skills.
  • Advanced computing skills with Python programming for deep learning, machine learning, and signal processing.
  • Experience with survival analysis is a plus.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are already authorized to work in the U.S.
